What’s New

Every improvement to CountNutri, across the web and Android apps.

The scanner trusts its own eyes

IMPROVED
  • Meal scanning no longer relies on a hand-written list of dish descriptions. The AI is now asked to apply its full vision capability and its own knowledge of the cuisine you select, examining texture, shape, colour and preparation before naming anything — and to use the authentic local dish name rather than a generic label. Side-by-side testing on real Sri Lankan plates showed this matches or beats the old approach, and it now applies to every cuisine in the list, not only South Asian ones

CountNutri is ad-free

IMPROVED
  • Removed advertising from CountNutri entirely. The empty "Advertisement" blocks are gone from the blog and every post, no ad script loads on any page, and no advertising cookies are set. The privacy policy, terms of use and cookie policy have been rewritten to say so plainly, and the cookie banner no longer offers a marketing-cookie option it did not need. Your meal photos and nutrition data are never used for advertising

Every blog post is reachable again

FIXED
  • The blog index only put its first 9 posts into the page itself; the rest appeared only after clicking "Load More", which search engines never do. All 30 posts are now in the page from the start (still shown 9 at a time), so every article can be found and indexed instead of sitting invisible

Manage referral partners

NEW
  • Admin can remove a referral partner from the programme in one click, with a confirmation that spells out the consequences (their link stops working, no further commission is recorded, any commission still owed is shown) — and restore them again just as easily. Nothing is deleted: the partner's history and earnings ledger are always preserved
  • New referral codes are anonymous (for example HLCK7Q2XM) instead of being built from the owner's name, so a shared invite link no longer reveals who sent it

Invites now come from the Healthy Life Club

IMPROVED
  • Referral invite pages are now generic: visitors are welcomed to the CountNutri Healthy Life Club with the sign-up button right at the top — no personal names shown. Referrers told us the personalised headline made them shy to share their links, so sharing is now comfortable while invites still apply automatically at signup

Look-alike dishes, told apart

IMPROVED
  • The scanner now tells apart the classic look-alike dishes on a Sri Lankan rice-and-curry plate: yellow jackfruit curry (kos maluwa) is no longer confused with dhal, fried dried sprats with onion (hal masso) is no longer mistaken for brinjal moju, and chicken and fish curry pieces are judged by shape and texture cues before naming — which also makes allergy warnings more reliable
  • Every dish on a South Asian plate now goes through a candidate check: the AI weighs two or three similar dishes from your cuisine against the visual evidence before naming each item, instead of settling on its first guess — this helps even for dishes we never listed by name

New flagship AI models for meal scanning

IMPROVED
  • We introduced new flagship AI models to CountNutri. The upgrade was decided by a side-by-side test on a real Sri Lankan rice-and-curry plate, where the previous model missed an entire curry that the new one identified correctly. Premium and Ultra scans run on the flagship model; free-trial scans on its faster sibling. No app update needed — every scan benefits immediately

The scanner learned the Sri Lankan plate by name

IMPROVED
  • Sri Lankan scans now recognize classic dishes by their proper names: mallung (coconut-tossed shredded greens), polos (young jackfruit curry — no longer mistaken for meat), parippu, pol/katta/seeni sambol, ambul thiyal, kiri hodi, wambatu moju, plus string hoppers, hoppers, pittu, pol roti and kiribath — instead of generic guesses. Applies to every South Asian cuisine scan, on web and mobile, with no app update needed

Smarter scans for mixed curries

IMPROVED
  • South Asian mixed curries are now analyzed with extra care: when you select a South Asian cuisine (Sri Lankan, Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi) or cooking style, the AI looks for ingredients cooked together — like dhal with spinach, sambar, or kottu — and names the mixture ("Dhal curry with spinach") with nutrition based on the combined composition, instead of reporting only the base curry
  • All cuisines: dishes that are visibly a mixture are now identified as mixed dishes rather than a single ingredient

Your plan card, always live

NEW
  • Water tracking: set a daily goal, tap a glass on your Home screen for every drink, and get gentle reminders until you reach it — free for everyone (Profile → Water Tracking)
FIXED
  • Newsletter emails now render headings properly: `#`/`##`/`###` markers were showing as literal text in sent emails instead of styled headings — the email builder now converts headings (plus links and numbered lists) to proper HTML
  • Profile plan card no longer shows stale status: after upgrading, renewing, or expiring, the badge, scan counters, and expiry date now update instantly (previously they were fetched once at app start and could show an old expired plan under your new plan's name)
  • Scan screen's "plan expired" banner also refreshes the moment your plan changes — upgrading on the website unblocks scanning on your phone within seconds, no restart needed
  • Keyboard no longer covers what you type: the AI chat box, sign-in and registration forms, personal & health info fields, and the goal editor all slide up above the Android keyboard (Android 15 edge-to-edge broke the old behavior)
  • Sign in with Google now works on Android (the app was using the wrong OAuth client type, which Google blocked with an "Authorization Error")
IMPROVED
  • Brand-new premium welcome screen: deep-green design with glass feature cards — and it now adapts to every screen size and font setting
  • AI Coach fair use: up to 25 messages per day for subscribers, resetting daily — keeps the coach fast and available for everyone
  • Doubled your daily scans: Premium now gives 6 scans per day (180 per month, up from 3/90) and Ultra gives 6 scans per day (2,190 per year, up from 5/1,750) — same prices, existing subscribers upgraded automatically
  • Website: the app download section now showcases what the AI food scanner does — banner stats, a feature checklist, and a one-tap "Scan Your First Meal Free" sign-up button
