I'm Sampath, and I built CountNutri from Sri Lanka. Every tracker I tried wanted me to log “white rice, 1 cup” and move on — as if the dhal, the tempered oil, the coconut sambol and the curry beside it simply didn't exist.
So we built the tracker the other way around: you photograph the whole plate, and the AI works out what's on it — then cross-checks the numbers against USDA data.
During testing, someone scanned a plate of dhal cooked with spinach and the app came back with just “dhal.” Technically not wrong. Practically useless. We spent the next two days teaching it to recognise curries cooked together — because that is how our food is actually made.
Twelve testers across Sri Lanka and Qatar used it every day for two weeks. Their feedback became five builds, and then a public launch on Google Play.

Everything you need to know about CountNutri's AI-powered nutrition analysis
CountNutri uses computer vision AI to identify the foods on your plate, including mixed and home-cooked dishes. It analyzes the ingredients it can see, estimates portion sizes and factors in the cooking method, then cross-checks the nutrition against USDA FoodData Central. The result is a fast, grounded estimate you can adjust in a tap.
An AI photo estimate is an estimate, not a laboratory measurement — and we would rather say so than quote a number we cannot prove. Values are cross-checked against USDA FoodData Central, which keeps them grounded, and you can correct any portion in a tap. Used consistently, it gives a genuinely useful picture of your intake, which is what actually drives results.
CountNutri starts with a free 7-day trial that includes 1 photo analysis per day. Premium is $9.99/month with 6 scans per day, the premium AI model, recipe recommendations and data export. Ultra is $99.99/year — the same features, and the best value at about two months free versus paying monthly.
Yes, CountNutri's advanced AI can identify and analyze multiple food items in complex meals, providing detailed nutritional breakdown for each ingredient and accurate portion calculations.
Absolutely. CountNutri prioritizes your privacy with end-to-end encryption, secure data storage, and no sharing of personal information. We never sell your data and comply with all privacy regulations.
CountNutri works on any smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera through your browser, and the Android app is available on Google Play. An iPhone app is not available yet — iPhone users can use CountNutri in Safari and add it to the home screen. Your scans and history sync across every device on the same account.
